Fixed Bridgework

Advantages:

1. Not much feeling of extra bulk in mouth
2. Do not have anything to remove

Disadvantages:

1. Teeth on either side of the space(s) have to undergo tooth reduction (like peeling an orange )
2. Harder to achieve good oral hygiene practices( ie harder to floss)
3. Since there is tooth reduction (removal of tooth structure ) , there is risk of the supporting teeth acting up ( toothache ) after bridge is done. Root canal treatment would be necessary if this does occur.
